Privacy Policy
Stock Watcher is a desktop application that runs entirely on your own computer. This policy explains the little data we do handle, and the much larger amount we deliberately don't.
The short version. Your holdings, broker tokens, transactions and portfolio history never leave your computer. We operate no server that receives them, and we could not read them if we wanted to. The only personal data we hold is what you give us when you buy a licence: your email address and a record of the purchase.
1. Who we are
Stock Watcher ("we", "us") is software sold and supported by its independent developer, contactable at praneeth.thommandru@gmail.com. Full details are on our Contact page.
2. Data that stays on your computer
When you use Stock Watcher, the following is created and stored only in your operating system's application-data folder on your own machine:
- Broker access tokens you enter, in an owner-only file — or, if you choose, in the macOS Keychain or Windows DPAPI store.
- Your holdings, transaction ledger, portfolio snapshots and alerts.
- Your settings — theme, chosen markets, account groups.
None of this is transmitted to us. There is no account to create, no cloud sync, and no telemetry or analytics in the application. You can delete all of it at any time by removing the application-data folder, or back it up yourself from Settings → Data.
3. Data we do receive

We never receive or store your card number, UPI ID, bank details or CVV. Those go directly to our payment processor.
4. Third parties
Stock Watcher relies on a small number of external services. We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with anyone for marketing.
- Razorpay — processes payments. Card and banking details are handled by Razorpay under their own privacy policy; we only see the payment reference and your email.
- Your broker (Groww, Zerodha, Upstox, Dhan, Angel One) — the app calls your broker's official read-only API directly from your computer, using your token. That traffic goes to your broker, not to us.
- Public market data — the app fetches quotes, dividends and IPO data from public endpoints (including Yahoo Finance and NSE) directly from your computer. These requests contain the stock symbols being looked up; they do not contain your identity, holdings or quantities.
- GitHub — hosts this website and the application downloads. GitHub may log standard web-server information such as IP address when you visit or download.
5. Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may log the request as part of serving the font. The application itself contains no tracking of any kind.
6. Security
Licence keys are stored by us only as records of sale. Within the application, activation keys are verified against stored one-way hashes, never plaintext. Broker tokens on your machine are written to an owner-only file, and can optionally be moved into your operating system's encrypted credential store. Because your financial data never reaches us, a breach of ours cannot expose it.
7. Your rights
You may ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email praneeth.thommandru@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. Note that deleting your purchase record may prevent us from honouring support or refunds, and we may need to retain certain records to comply with tax law.
8. Children
Stock Watcher is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the software after a change means you accept the updated policy.
